Glyder Fach and Llyn Ogwen

Located close to the Devil’s Kitchen and Llyn Idwal, this area contains some of the most classic mountain landscapes in Snowdonia. My favourite view is from a series of waterfalls on a small river called Afon Lloer, on the slopes of Pen yr Ole Wen. It’s particularly spectacular at sunrise, especially if you get lucky with the weather.
To reach this viewpoint you can park along the side of the A5, between Capel Curig and Bethesda, just east of Llyn Ogwen. Here you’ll find a track with a footpath sign that leads through some fir trees to the entrance to a farm. At the entrance you follow the stone wall until you find some steps and another footpath sign that will take you up the slope. This path is fairly indistinct in places, but you will eventually meet up with the river, which you follow until you come across a steeper area with a series of waterfalls.
This is where I tend to stop, but you can find plenty of alternative viewpoints to get your own shot of this beautiful location.
